The blood donation drive, organised by our Association, took place with absolute success on Friday, November 13, in collaboration with ΗÉMA-QUÉBEC.
Our community and the local population responded enthusiastically to the call of the Association which, during the critical period of the pandemic, sent the message “we give blood, a breath of life and solidarity”.
The planned target was 60 blood donations and was 100% covered. 60 volunteers gave their own blood to save our fellow human beings, who desperately need it to be kept alive.
In a message, HÉMA-QUÉBEC congratulates the volunteer blood donors and the members of the Association, who offered their services for the registration of blood donors, for the organization of the space according to the needs of the blood donation, as well as for any necessary translations, for the supply of juice to the blood donors and any other need of the ΗÉMA-QUÉBEC staff.
Congratulations and thanks are extended by ΗÉMA-QUÉBEC to the Association for the excellent cooperation and contribution of its members and hopes that this cooperation will continue in the future, when the COVID-19 pandemic is over.
In response, the board of the Association, states that with this voluntary blood donation, which took place as part of the celebrations of the Association’s 50th anniversary, we also want to express, once again, our solidarity and support for the struggle of the workers in the health sector in Quebec, that in difficult working conditions, low wages, lack of personnel and necessary infrastructure, fight a titanic struggle, in hospitals, intensive care units, surgeries, to save lives, to protect the health of the people.
We note also that health care workers, like the 500,000 workers in Quebec’s public sector, are currently negotiating with the government to renew their collective agreement.
